Fly Control in Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Birmingham

Pest Control ServiceFly Control

DR.KILL specialise in fly control and undertake fly treatments for commercial and domestic clients. Our fully trained and accredited pest control operatives supply a fly extermination and fly removal service in the areas of Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Birmingham, with a guarantee of NO KILL NO BILL.

Flies are attracted to such a wide variety of food sources that it doesn’t take much to attract them to a property. While the house fly only lives for around 2 weeks, it can reproduce a remarkable amount of other flies. If the conditions are right, and with access to food, flies can infest a commercial building or home in their thousands.

As flies are known to transmit bacteria and germs that can make humans very ill, finding the source and treating a fly infestation should be a priority. If you have house flies in your home or business and are looking for a local, accredited pest control company for fly control, DR.KILL offers a rapid fly extermination service.

Fly Identification

  • House flies are 6mm long with a wingspan of 10mm, approx.
  • With a black chequered abdomen which is slightly hairy, the house fly has blackish stripes on its thorax.
  • The distance between the eyes is wide in the female fly and narrow with the male fly.
  • The vein of the house fly wing bends sharply before reaching the edge. At rest the wings are spread.
  • Fly larvae are white, opaque and pointed.
  • Flies with sluggish behaviour, seen late at night bouncing around light bulbs, emitting a low bumbling buzz are most likely to be cluster flies.

Fly Habitat & Breeding

  • The house fly is commonly found on decaying matter, dustbins, compactors, as well as on feces, rotting animal carcasses, and where there are poor hygiene practices..
  • Flies lay up to 150 eggs, each 1mm long, laid in batches in the selected foodstuffs. Larvae (maggots) starts putrefaction that is spread by the adults with bacteria on their bodies.
  • Larvae hatch in 8 to 48 hours and are 1mm long. The larvae have three moults and reach 12mm in length.
  • The larva travels to pupate, preferably in soil. The larval skin is cast turning into a puparium, this is 5mm-6mm long.
  • Adult flies hatch 3-4 weeks later and live for 25-52 days.
