Ant Control in Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Birmingham

Pest Control ServiceAnt Control

DR.KILL specialise in ant removal and undertake ant treatments for domestic and commercial clients. Our fully trained and accredited pest control operatives supply an ant control and ant extermination service in the areas of Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Birmingham, with a guarantee of NO KILL NO BILL.

Ants are social creatures and love the same food we do. They come into our homes and workplaces to find things they can eat, particularly things that are sweet or sticky. Foraging worker ants can be a nuisance within commercial or residential buildings but are very rarely a health risk. Unlike other pests, ants don’t carry transmittable diseases.

The first step in dealing with any ant infestation is identification. DR.KILL offers ant control to target and exterminate a range of ant species, while also implementing tactics to help protect against future infestations. So, if you suspect an ant problem in or around your home or place of work, then we can help.

Ant Identification

  • The common black ant, garden ant (Lasius Niger) is the familiar and abundant small ant that lives in gardens.
  • 2mm to 3mm, shiny black, elbowed antennae, large head, slender thorax, characteristic waist and long legs.
  • Black garden ant workers are small and wingless, while the flying adults are larger and browner.
  • Ant nests may be conspicuous or their nests may be hidden. Soil nests may have a distinctive shape, or they may assume the shape of their hiding place under rocks or other objects.
  • The colonies of the black garden ant are huge, featuring thousands of workers who collect food, keep the nest clean and look after the young, and a queen who produces the eggs.

Ant Habitat & Breeding

  • The black garden ant is common in many habitats, including gardens where nests form under paving stones, in soil and between brickwork.
  • Ant colonies can be in close proximity to human dwellings, entering buildings to forage for food.
  • The queen ant lays a variable number of eggs. Three to four weeks later legless grubs hatch, three weeks later larvae mature, two weeks after pupation adult ants emerge.
  • Late summer winged and mature males leave nest and mate and the males die whilst the females find new nest sites.
  • Many thousands of ants live in a nest in a social hierarchy tending to various functions.
